Milkweed Consulting offers custom native gardening support for people who want to make their outdoor spaces more beautiful, useful, and supportive of local habitat. We also sell a rotating selection of native plants suited to our local ecosystem, available seasonally as bare root or potted plants. These plants are chosen to support butterflies, bees, birds, and healthier habitat in DMV gardens.

Every garden is different. Your sunlight, soil, existing plants, drainage, budget, time, and goals all shape what makes sense for your space. That’s why Milkweed Consulting starts with what you already have and builds from there.

During a consultation, Emily visits your yard, garden bed, patio, or outdoor space to understand what is growing, what is working, and what you want to change. From there, she gives practical recommendations for native plants, placement, care, and next steps that fit your real life and desired level of maintenance.

You might be looking for a few pollinator-friendly plants, a front yard refresh, a mini meadow, more butterflies and bees, help identifying what’s already growing, or a longer-term plan for replacing invasives with native plants over time. The goal is not to make native gardening feel perfect or intimidating. The goal is to help you take meaningful next steps with confidence.
